Every room had a window and none of them had the view. We moved the kitchen to the back, put the living room where three bedrooms had been, and the whole flat now looks at the river.

Architectural Planning
Three rooms became one. Nothing structural moved.
Interior Styling
Original azulejo retained in the hall, everything else kept quiet around it.
Furniture Specification
Low, so nothing interrupts the sightline from the door to the terrace.
Lighting & Atmosphere
Warm and dim inside, because the point is what is outside.

Photographed in the hour before sunset, which is the only time the tiles and the river agree.
